Frequently Asked Questions:
You asked, we answered! Here are some frequently asked questions that we get here at CTW about our flooring services.
Q: What types of flooring do you offer?
A: We offer quality crafted carpet, vinyl, tile, stone, laminate, and hardwood products. We have plenty of options for you to choose from, with a room visualizer tool located on our website for you to view any of these products in your own home!
Q: How do I know which flooring type is best for my home?
A: Our sales team needs a good idea of what is most important to you. Is it comfortability, appearance, durability? Our sales team works hard to determine what flooring type will best suit your needs and lifestyle.
Q: What’s the difference between solid hardwood and engineered hardwood?
A: Solid hardwood is made from a single piece of wood and can be sanded and refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood is made with a real wood top layer and a stable core, making it more resistant to moisture and temperature changes. Both are excellent options, depending on your space and needs.
Q: Is Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) waterproof?
A: It is extremely water resistant, but nothing is fully waterproof. LVP is the next most water-resistant type of flooring, with porcelain being number one. Although LVP is constructed mostly of vinyl, if left unattended, the other layers tend to warp and separate, causing you to need to fix the subfloors. If LVP is left submerged in water for an extended period of time, then everything buckles and warps. These are extreme cases of water damage, but when it comes to everyday spills and messes, LVP is a very easy to clean option.
Q: Can you help match new flooring to my existing flooring?
A: For sight stain and finish projects, we can achieve this in most cases. But when it comes to purchasing product lines that were previously ordered and installed, you are always going to have variations in dye lots and shade. This means that you are never going to perfectly coordinate new flooring with existing flooring. However, we can try to coordinate as best as possible.
Q: How long does a one-room flooring replacement project normally take?
A: Depending on the application, 1 to 2 days. Showers and porcelain tiles normally take a little bit longer. If we are asked to take out existing flooring, this adds a bit of time to the overall project as well.
Q: Does CTW provide warranties or guarantees for flooring products?
A: Yes, we provide 3 unique warranties for our carpet products: Limited Lifetime Stain Warranty, Limited Lifetime Soil Warranty, and Limited Lifetime Abrasive Wear Warranty. All manufacturer and fiber producer warranties and conditions attached to the product purchased apply. Once those warranties expire, Abbey Carpet & Floor warranties will take effect with regard to stain, soil, and abrasive wear. Labor to replace your carpet is included in these warranties from the date of installation for a period of five years. After that, labor to replace your carpet under these warranties will not be covered.
Q: How messy is the flooring installation process?
A: Mess is inevitable during any remodel project, but it should never cause you concern. It is the salesperson's duty to set expectations and review what you should be prepared for in regard to dust and mess, and our installation team's duty is to leave your home looking better than before.
Q: Is there anything I need to do to prepare my home for a flooring installation?
A: Having things picked up off the floor and closets and moving any furniture located in the space. If you are unable to move existing furniture, then emptying drawers in dressers or other furniture located in your space is appreciated so that it is easier for our team to move furniture ourselves.
Q: Can CTW recycle my old flooring?
A: In some cases, we are able to recycle wood flooring if it can be repurposed in other areas. CTW also recycles all rebond padding from our carpet replacement projects, as it is constructed of bonded pieces of reclaimed foam.
